App How To's
There are so many different applications and tools out there on the web that can be used for educational purposes. It's important to do some research into the different tools out there to see what will work best for a given class and what fits the needs best. One good resource for education applications is Jane Hart's Center for Learning & Performance Technology. Hart publishes a list of Top 100 Tools for Learning every year. Below are three different tutorials I've made for three different educational apps: Prezi, VoiceThread, and Creaza Cartoonist.

This is a Prezi that I created to help students (and teachers) learn how to use the different features available on this Web 2.0 Tool. Prezi is a tool that is done online with onsite storage. It has several tools available that are all easy to use and the finished product is a visually stimulating presentation.

This is a VoiceThread I created on how to make a VoiceThread. It's primary purpose is to guide students on the different features available through VoiceThread.A VoiceThread is a multimedia platform that allows users to upload or record their own video and audio. It also allows for the upload of pictures and documents. Through VoiceThread creators can also draw on the documents and zoom in to get a closer look at specific parts of the presentation.

Cartoonist allows creators to pick backgrounds, characters, and props and arrange them and add text to create cartoons or graphic novels. I made a tutorial for new creators to use when making their own cartoons on cartoonist as well as my own cartoon as an example. This is a great tool to use, students enjoy using it, and it's easy.

Good ReadsGood Reads is a website that allows users to share books they've read giving them ratings and writing reviews. They can also search books and see what other people have said about them and how they've rated them. There is also the ability to add groups and add people as friends. This would be ideal for a classroom setting. Good Reads is a great way to get students sharing and talking about books. I made the video using Screen-Cast-O-Matic.
