Gamification
Games are not often thought of as being a real learning tool to a student's education but new research shows that games could be one of the most important parts of a student education. Research is being done across the country by a variety of different people. Game and software designers and university professors alike are doing research to show the benefits of using all sorts of games in education, but especially video games. Mindshift hosts an article about what Dr. James Paul Gee, a professor at Arizona State University and a "leading authority on literacy and potential of educational games", thinks about the possibilities of games in education. The Ted Talks are videos that discuss the latest and best developments and ideas in various fields, one of the most prominent being education. This Ted Talk video features Jane McGonigal and her theories on why gamification can be used to teach students and guide them to being able to develop a better future for everyone. Gamification is important to consider and the research is showing that games have a very positive effect on education.
